We all have this mask we hide behind.
You hide one aspect that nobody has seen and you may be concerned about being judged because of it. Hiding your true self is harmful, you get sucked into the dark vortex and it can be too late to climb back out. Sometimes we all hide behind our masks to protect ourselves, but if you want to be loved for who you are, then take the mask off.
When you were younger, did you ever pretend you were someone else? Pretending you were a hero or a princess? Oftentimes we make a choice: am I going to let them see them see the real me or what they want me to be? I don’t want that. I want you to be the best you can be and not let anyone else make those decisions for you. A good place to start is realizing who you are and showing the world that you’re not afraid.
Yes, many people would agree that they don’t want to show themselves in case they get hurt living this way, but do you honestly want to bury the person you always wanted to be? Bury the dream you have, the goals you make, the passions you discover, and for what? To show the world what they want to see? You owe it to your friends, to your family, and to yourself, to not be hidden behind a silly little mask. To deny one’s gifts and nature given is like tempting disaster. You cannot hide forever.
In 2 Corinthians 4:4 it says “If your gospel was to be hid, it is hidden to those who are lost…” If you are a true believer and follower of Christ, taking off the mask and revealing a sinful lifestyle is turning around and unmasking the light of God that dwells in you.
Sometimes, it’s not the people who change, it’s the mask that falls off.
