What does your heart beat for? Or more accurately, what makes life meaningful for you?
Too often we get so caught up in life that we stop living. Ironic huh? Of course I don’t mean literally, but our insides die — and that what counts. God has made each and every one of us beautiful, inside and out. But sometimes we live in such routine and standards that we lose who we truly are.
Don’t get me wrong: we all need structure and patterns to follow. But when we let our schedule control us, we’ve gone to far. We get so discouraged at the end of the day when we see only two things have been crossed off our to-do list. Why? Why does that bother us so? It makes us feel unproductive as though we wasted a day. But what else have you done that wasn’t on the list? Maybe having coffee with your mum, phoning your grandparents or going for a walk. Those are all things worthwhile. They’re interruptions. But maybe they’re worth more than doing the dishes?
I’m sure you’ve heard numerous people say something life, “That mont flew by.” So how did it? Either you were really busy or having a really good time. Which was it?
They’re nothing wrong in itself for being busy, but often we miss the big picture and the vast beauty around us. Sometimes at the end of a busy week that “flew by” we find there wasn’t much fun. Is that how you want to live your life?
Strive to live a meaningful life. So what does that look life? I don’t know what it looks like for you — that’s between you and God. So dive in, dig deeper and enter a meaningful relationship with the Lord, for He will make your paths’s straight.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
lead me on level ground.
