Taking off the veil.

A teacher asked my class “Whats the last thing you put on before you go to school”. I and others answered and we were wrong. He then said “A mask”. Now, this was one of the truest things I’ve ever heard. But for many, I think, It’s actually the first thing we put on. Sometimes I get up after a night of stressing, and worrying and then when I get up I try to ignore it. Yes, that is a mask.

The hardest part is that in school, your constantly running around doing stressful work. There usually is no time to be real. Sometimes I wish they just had a period that we could just talk. Because the truth is, things suck for many people. Being a teenager is rough. And yet we are expected to have it all together all the time. Now that is a generalization, obviously not all teachers are like that. But it definitely feels like you “CAN’T” break down and be real.

Some of us walk down the halls with smiles on our faces, but in truth is behind that smile are tears. This is not how it should be. When your feeling like absolute crap you should not have to hold it in. Whats the point of having friends if you cant be there for each other when your going through rough waters. Behind that smile we may be feeling super exhausted, insecure, depressed, and scared. So why not just be real. When your feeling like crying or just feeling like absolute crap and your day is sucking why not be real bout it? The more you hide in your emotions the harder it gets and the worse it gets. Now some personality’s differ in this. Some are very good at keeping things at bay. Others like mine, are not. Now Im not saying to go run around telling everyone you depressed and sad. But, talk to someone. Because believe it or not, your issues and problems are probably way more common than you would think.

Also theres a reason that in the beginning God put Two people on this earth. Not just one. Because he created us to be in fellowship with one another. If your going through something hard, like an addiction, a parents divorce, friendship issues, or just not being able to love yourself. I promise you, you are not alone. You are Not alone. Jesus Christ is always with you yes, but he also put certain people into your life for a reason.

I understand how it can be terrifying to talk to someone about your life. But I promise you it is well worth it. There is so much more to friendship than just hanging out and joking around. Sure those things are important, but they ain’t all that should be there. Let me say this one more time, You Are NOT Alone. Let your group be a community, not just a group.  No matter what people tell you, you, yes you matter and your problems matter. Ive learned in my life, that friends have been one of the main reasons I still enjoy life despite all the crap. So take of the mask. Be real, really feel, and break the seal. Because god has so much more in store for your relationships. Be open, don’t hold anything back. Put aside fear, and and take of the vail.

Job 2:11

11 When Job’s three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him.

Colossians 3:12-14

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
